The AECT Fellows Program is an honor bestowed upon members who have made exemplary or groundbreaking accomplishments in the discipline of educational communications and technology.
The AECT Fellows Task Force will manage the nomination process, evaluate nomination packets, and recommend a limited number of candidates to the AECT Board of Directors for final approval.
The AECT Fellows will be recognized during the 2024 Convention in Kansas, MO. They will be expected to participate in AECT activities and showcase their achievements during the year and the 2025 national convention.
Nominee Eligibility
The minimum eligibility criteria are:

10 or more years of AECT membership (does not need to be consecutive)

Presenter at a minimum of five AECT conventions during the past 10 years

AECT service: for example, leadership positions elected and appointed, convention volunteer or facilitator, committee member, intern, etc.

Outstanding and significant contributions in two or more of the following categories: scholarship, teaching, professional practice, or service.
Evaluation Categories
Categories will be judged on outstanding qualifications that contribute to the broader impact and intellectual merit of the discipline over an extended period. The nomination materials should include objective evidence of specific accomplishments and explain why the contributions are outstanding. These include, but are not limited to:

Scholarship examples include publications, grants, and presentations

Teaching examples include learning outcomes, mentoring, and innovative course design

Professional practice examples include instructional design, development, librarianship, project management, training, etc.

Service includes journal editorship, community service, AECT service, leadership, etc.
Nomination Procedure
One pdf file (lastname_firstname_fellow.pdf) will be submitted with all materials in the following order:

A nominee statement that describes the significant experience, contributions, leadership, or service for 2 of the 4 categories (750 to 1000 words, not including references). Must address:

Two letters of support from current AECT members (500 to 750 words for each letter). The letters must address the same two categories described in the nominee statement.
