AECT Announces John Curry as Editor-in-Chief of TechTrends
Bloomington, IN. The Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) has announced Dr. John Curry as editor-in-chief of TechTrends, a journal dedicated to fostering the exchange of current research in the fields of educational technology and instructional design.
Curry is professor of Instructional Design and Technology at Idaho State University, where he is also the Chair of the Department of Organizational Learning and Performance in the School of Education. He has been an AECT member for more than twenty-five years.
“After an exhaustive search that yielded several well-qualified candidates, our search committee was delighted to select Dr. John Curry as the next Editor-in-Chief of TechTrends,” said AECT CEO Nolan Gruver. “TechTrends is one of the premier journals in the field, and John will continue its longstanding record of excellence.”
Curry succeeds Dr. Charles Hodges, TechTrends’ Editor-In Chief for the past ten years. TechTrends was downloaded 376,145,000 times in 2022, with an overall impact factor of 2.6.
“I have been gratified with the steadily increasing number of downloads and our high impact factor during my time with the journal,” said Hodges. “These indicators reflect the quality of authors who are submitting their work to TechTrends and their peers who review the articles to ensure they meet high standards.”
AECT’s partner on TechTrends is Springer Publishing.
“We value our relationship with AECT which allows us to publish one the premier journals in the field,” said Puja Dayal, Senior Publisher-STEM, Medical and Vocational Education at Springer.
“I’m grateful for Chuck Hodges considerable efforts to advance TechTrends over the past ten years,” said Curry. “I look forward to continuing the upward trajectory of one of AECT’s more impactful journals.”
Curry assumed the Editor-in-Chief position on January 1. The first issue under his guidance was published in March of 2024.
