Smaldino & Herring Teacher Leadership Award

 

Purpose

This award is geared at leadership development and promotion. Thus, it is meant to help nascent and emerging TED scholars with an interest (and/or past service experience) in TED participate more fully in current and future leadership roles.

 

Requirements

Nominees must meet the following requirements:

  • Current AECT member in good standing

  • An individual who has shown the potential for leadership within the TED Division through one or more of the following:

    • Current member in AECT’s Teacher Education Division (TED)

    • Active and valued participation in TED 

    • Active participation in teacher education 

    • A record of high quality professional activities related to the Instructional (Educational) Technology field and teacher education 

The awardee is agreeing to participate in a TED emerging leadership role for the year following the award as an officer or committee chair.

Decision

Applicants are reviewed by TED board members with the current Past President acting as chair. The chair may also organize an awards committee made up of no more than five TED members to help review applications.  

 

Application Procedure

  1. Maximum 1,000-word document detailing the candidate’s qualifications and future expectations for leadership within TED and relative to teacher education.

  2. 2 letters of reference; one letter must be from a TED member.

  3. Document should include contact information including phone number and email.
