Transportation & Arrival Tips

Royal Marine Hotel
Marine Road, Dún Laoghaire, Dublin, A96 K063

The most affordable and direct option is the Aircoach bus. The 702 Aircoach runs from Dublin Airport and drops passengers on Marine Road, just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. The hotel recommends prebooking, especially for airport pickups. The bus runs hourly and the journey takes about 1 hour.

The fare is €12.60, and hotel guests can also receive a 10% discount using the code RoyalMarine.

Alternatively, an Uber or taxi from Dublin Airport to The Royal Marine Hotel (Dún Laoghaire) typically costs €35–€45 and takes about 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

I also know many of you will be arriving on Sunday morning, July 12. Although check-in begins at 3:00 p.m., the hotel can store your bags if you’d like to head out and explore beforehand.

There are several restaurants near the hotel with beautiful views of Dublin Bay, and the East Pier is a wonderful place for a walk. Along the way, you can stop for a famous Teddy’s Ice Cream or visit the nearby park, where there may be live music.

If you’re feeling adventurous and not too jet-lagged, you could also take the train (€3–€5) to Greystones, a relaxed seaside town south of Dublin known for its coastline, cafés, marina, and access to the Wicklow Mountains. It’s also home to the well-known Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk.

You may also want to head into Dublin city centre, where there is no shortage of things to see. A few highlights—especially for those interested in instructional design and history—include the Book of Kells at Trinity College and the Guinness Storehouse, which offers panoramic views of the city. Even if you don’t drink beer, this is a great way to get a birds-eye view of the city and see instructional design in action.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Publishing Summit at The Royal Marine Hotel next month! Céad míle fáilte!
