D&D Board Meetings Resume in 2026
The D&D Board had its first 2026 monthly meeting on January 12, 2026. The meeting centered on preparations for the AECT 2026 conference, emphasizing the February 16 proposal deadline under the theme "Building Bridges" and the urgent need to recruit volunteer reviewers to review submissions. To boost division engagement, the board discussed outreach strategies such as hosting informational webinars and leveraging networks. Additionally, leadership finalized plans for the upcoming "Writing Blocks" and updated the D&D Awards web page to encourage more submissions and participation from the D&D community.
2026 AECT International Convention Call for Proposals
The 2026 AECT International Convention is now accepting proposals for the upcoming conference in Chicago, themed "Building Bridges," with a firm submission deadline of February 16, 2026. All submissions must align with the conference theme, and the number of proposals a division receives will directly determine its allocated presentation slots for the event. Interested members are encouraged to submit early to ensure their work is considered for this premier gathering of instructional design and technology professionals.
2026 D&D Awards Call for Nominations
The D&D Awards Committee has officially released the 2026 D&D Awards Call for Nominations, offering members the opportunity to be recognized for outstanding journal articles, books, and instructional practices. Award winners will be honored at the D&D Membership Meeting and invited to present their work during the AECT International Convention in Chicago, scheduled for November 3-7, 2026. The nomination deadlines are March 30, 2026, and June 1, 2026, for different awards.
"Open House" of the D&D Board Meeting
The D&D Board values transparency and member engagement. To that end, the board has decided to host an annual "Open House" session. This event will provide an opportunity for the general membership to learn about our ongoing initiatives and contribute ideas to the division's growth. We will announce the date and details for the 2026 Open House via our official email list and newsletters once the schedule is finalized.
