2026 Emerging Learning Technology Award

The purpose of the Emerging Learning Technology Award is to promote the production and utilization of the latest innovative technologies through the creation of a network of individuals engaged in the design, development, implementation, use, and/or study of these tools in myriad settings. Submissions that clearly indicate how the emerging learning technology tool supports cognition, literacy, accessibility, collaboration,  engagement, or motivation for learning are encouraged to apply. Emerging learning technologies are defined as any technology that has yet to be fully realized in educational settings.

Two awards will be granted annually at the convention. There will be two categories under this award: 1) Professional (non-student) award and 2) Graduate student award. Awards are given to candidates who qualify for either a first place or a runner-up placement for both categories. 

Criteria

  • DELT encourages submissions focused on the utilization of technologies including but not limited to 3D printing, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, mixed reality, virtual reality, wearables, simulation, microcontrollers and single board computing, embedded technologies, mobile computing, machine learning, etc.

  • Completed products/programs or design prototypes are acceptable with rich description and context.

  • Submissions must include a substantiation of multimodal artifacts such as images, video, screenshots, recordings, and audio to support the understanding and application of the described emerging technology or practice.

  • Images should be clear and include alternative text or descriptions

  • Any unusual artifacts in non-standard formats should include directions or documentation for accessing for review

Graduate Student Award
Can be submitted by a single student or team of students

  • With or without faculty member supervision

  • Can be a course project or professional project outside the scope of a course/program

  • Graduate student submissions will follow the same evaluation criteria as the non-student submissions.

What artifacts need to be submitted?

  • A brief project overview (2-3 double-spaced pages maximum);

  • A brief summary video (3-5 mins maximum) with captions;

  • A link to the project or program page or a screen recording of the project, program, or technology tools submitted for the award;

  • Please follow the submission guidelines closely for the award consideration.

2026 John Curry Distinguished Service Award

The DELT John Curry Distinguished Service Award is an annual award given by the active DELT Board Members that honors contributions and accomplishments impacting the Division of Emerging Learning Technologies and AECT in General. The award recognizes outstanding leadership, service, mentorship, and professional practice that goes above and beyond in its scope and dedication to the division and its members. The award was created to honor John Curry in recognition of his extraordinary commitment, leadership, and service to the organization.

 Eligibility

  • There is not a specific requirement for the timing, nature, or variety of service. 
  • The award can honor specific accomplishments or a career of broad achievement.
  • The nominee must be an active member of DELT and of AECT.
  • The award may be given more than once to the same person.

Review Criteria

  • Evidence of exemplary achievement, contributions, and impact either for the division or as a representative of the division.
  • Quality of support from additional references for the nomination.

Selection

  • Nominations are coordinated, reviewed, and recipients approved by the DELT Board under the direction of the current Past-President who oversees division awards.
  • A review of potential awardees will be led by the Division’s Past President.
  • A unanimous, anonymous vote by the current board members will be required for the selection of awardee.
