The Learner Engagement Division of AECT is excited to invite you to propose a session for the 2025 Convention in Las Vegas October 20-24! The theme for this convention is "Refocus: The Future in Educational Technology." Please read the full call for proposals here: Call for Proposals - Association for Educational Communications and Technology. Please note that there is no virtual presentation option this year.
Learner Engagement Defined
We recognize that learning is an active process that happens in the mind of the learner as they construct knowledge from their experiences. Thus, learner engagement requires active participation by the learner, either internally or externally, that leads to learning. This can include cognitive, affective, behavioral, social, cultural, and metacognitive means, ideally facilitated with the use of technology to inform the student and the facilitator on the level of engagement and effect on learning outcomes.
The Learner Engagement Division is a community invested in the deep understanding of how learning and engagement intersect with the intentional design and development of learning experiences. We are looking for proposals for sessions that share investigations, ideas, practices, or resources that highlight the role of learner engagement in improving learning outcomes. You can propose a 20-minute interactive presentation, an academic poster, a 60-minute panel discussion, a 25-minute small group roundtable discussion, or a 60-minute Design in Practice demonstration.
