Learner Engagement Division Awards
Without the service of outstanding individuals, the LED would not be as successful and active as it is. Each year, the LED awards individuals and groups within the academic and corporate communities who have contributed innovative ideas and materials to the advancement of learner engagement. Recipients are awarded at AECT’s annual convention.
Learner Engagement Definition
We recognize that learning is an active process that happens in the mind of the learner as they construct knowledge from their experiences. Thus, learner engagement requires active participation by the learner, either internally or externally, that leads to learning. This can include cognitive, affective, behavioral, social, cultural, and metacognitive means, ideally facilitated with the use of technology to inform the student and the facilitator on the level of engagement and effect on learning outcomes.
The selection of award recipients is guided by this definition, ensuring that contributions align with the principles of active and meaningful learner involvement.
