I am a tenured professor of instructional technology, media, and design at the University of West Georgia, where I bridge theory and practice. My work spans technology integration, multiliteracies, and learning experience design, bringing academic rigor and real-world insight to both my teaching and research.
My leadership as lead editor of Essentials of Teaching and Integrating Visual and Media Literacy earned the Association for Educational Communications and Technology's prestigious James W. Brown Publication Award. I have co-authored and co-edited influential works on technology-supported initiatives, library and information studies in the Asia-Pacific region, and visual and media literacy, shaping how educators integrate media into learning environments.
My contributions have received significant recognition. West Visayas State University conferred a Doctor of Humanities Honoris Causa (2025) and awarded me Outstanding Alumni for Education (2023). The University of Alabama honored me as Outstanding Alumni for Library and Information Studies (2025) and as a Centennial Graduate Scholar (2024). I also served as a Fulbright U.S. Scholar to the Philippines (2023).
My path to academia reflects a deep commitment to education and service with a strong international dimension. Before pursuing graduate studies in the United States, I taught English to Indochinese refugees through an international non-government organization and later served as a project officer in the Philippine government-experiences that continue to inform my work in making learning accessible, inclusive, and meaningful across cultures.
Before stepping into the role of LED President-Elect, I held several leadership positions across professional organizations, including LED Representative to the AECT Board (2022–2025), Executive Secretary to the AECT Board (2019–2022), International Division President (2015–2016), IVLA Vice President (2018–2019), GAIT President (2019–2021), and APALA Member-at-Large (2022–2024).
Warmly,
