Purpose

This award recognizes an outstanding peer-reviewed journal article or book chapter that advances research or practice in learner engagement.

Eligibility

  • Eligible works must have a publication date within the past year. For the 2025 award cycle, submissions must have a copyright date between January and December 2024.
  • Publication date refers to when the publisher makes the work available. Early online publications released before the print version are eligible if they fall within the specified timeframe.
  • Published works must be original and peer-reviewed.
  • The primary author should be an AECT member. If there are co-authors, not all of them need to be AECT members.

2. Creativity

Selection

The LED awards committee, composed of LED Board members, coordinates, reviews, and approves nominations. Award nominees are notified shortly after the published deadline that the awards committee has received and recorded their submission. The Awards committee notifies winners before AECT's annual convention, where they present the award.

Nomination Procedures

To submit a nomination, click on the nomination form linked below. Complete the form and provide additional relevant information to aid the awards committee in making final decisions. Supporting files must be named with the year (e.g., 2025), primary nominee's last name (e.g., SMITH), award name (Publication), and a number (e.g., 1) with an underscore between items—for example, 2025_SMITH_Publication_1. The following formats are acceptable --- .doc and .pdf.

You may nominate yourself or an individual or group for the award, and you can nominate the same individual or group for other AECT or division awards. Contact the LED communications officer if you have questions or technical issues with the nomination form.
