JAID Editor-In-Chief Search
Sponsored by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT), the Journal of Applied Instructional Design (JAID) invites applications for the position of Editor-in-Chief. This position is a three (3) year term, starting from May 1st, 2024, that is renewable upon recommendation by the AECT CEO and ratification by the AECT Board of Directors. To ensure a smooth transition of duties, the newly selected Editor-In-Chief will be supported by the current Editor-In-Chief (Dr. Mohan Yang, Old Dominion University) for a period of 1 year.
AECT is seeking candidates with good reputations and networks nationally (and preferably at the international level, too) for this open-access and practitioner-oriented journal. A full description of JAID and the role of the Editor-in-Chief can be seen on the next pages.
Role and Responsibility of the JAID Editor-in-Chief
Housed under the Center of Excellence for Publishing, and reporting to the AECT CEO or (at CEO discretion) their designee, the selected Editor-in-Chief will play a crucial role in leading JAID's editorial team. Key responsibilities include:

- Recruiting, appointing, supervising, and terminating editorial team members.
- Recruiting, appointing, and terminating editorial board members in consultation with the Center of Excellence for Publishing and AECT CEO or (at CEO discretion) their designee,
- Conducting annual board meetings.
- Overseeing the content of the journal, including soliciting and selecting manuscripts and managing the peer-review process.
- Collaborating with the production editor on journal features, layout, and design.
- addressing the fiscal health of the journal;
- and other responsibilities consistent with the position or assigned by the AECT Board (See full description on the last page of this document).

The Search Committee will review all applications and recommend a candidate for JAID Editor-in-Chief to begin April 1st, 2024. The recommended candidate will be ratified by the AECT CEO and the AECT Board of Directors.
